Join special guests Joshua Trey Barnett, Talley V. Kayser and Ian Marshall as they present their work around this topic, followed by an opportunity to engage in a discussion about our ecological state as it is right now.
Joshua Trey Barnett is the author of the forthcoming book, Mourning in the Anthropocene: Ecological Grief and Earthly Coexistence (Michigan State University Press). He is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Arts & Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University, where he holds a joint appointment at the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences.
Talley V. Kayser teaches The Adventure Literature Series, a range of college courses that combine literary study with outdoor expeditions, at the Pennsylvania State University. Her poetry and nonfiction examine the entangled relationships—mournful and otherwise—among humans, other species, and the places we share.
A former president of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment, Ian Marshall is a recently retired (from Penn State Altoona) professor emeritus of English and environmental studies. He is the author of four books of literary ecocriticism and a collection of poems, and the editor of Reading Shaver's Creek: Ecological Reflections from an Appalachian Forest.
